Winter Preschool ballet class plan – top 10 songs and activities

Winter Preschool Ballet class plan – Top 10 winter themed song and activities.

Whilst I am a big fan of keeping a predictable Preschool ballet class plan which slowly develops and builds on skills as outlined in the Preschool Ballet Blueprint – there are certain times in the year, when it is nice to add in some themed elements to your class. Below are ten great songs for a Winter Preschool Ballet class plan. Depending on your class and how settled they are, you may want to include just a few of these winter songs or you may like to include them all and do a full winter Preschool Ballet class..  The Spotify playlist for the Winter Preschool Ballet class can be found here and you can download the suggested Winter Preschool Ballet class, mini class plan with exercises and suggestions for 5 songs by entering your email below

Go to the full page to view and submit the form.

1. I’m a Little Snowman – The Kiboomers – this is great to add into your warm up – set to the tune of “I’m a little Teapot”. You can act out the words to the song – very cute.

2. Snowflakes, Snowflakes – The Kiboomers – set to the tune of Twinkle, twinkle – this is a delightful song for your pliés and tapping tendus. Download the class plan for a choreographed exercise

3. Did you ever see a Penguin? – The Kiboomers – this is such a fun song for sways.

4.  It’s raining, it’s pouring – Ballet for little kids. – a lovely little instrumental piece, perfect for retiré balances.

5. Raindrops keep falling on my head – Kidz Bop Kids – this is a lovely rendition, you can swap out any of your normal songs for this one or choreograph a little dance.

6. Tippy Toe in the Rain – Amy & Marilyn – this is a great song to do you fairy runs across the room.  Alternatively you can do it as a free movement exercise where you follow the instructions – tippy toe runs around the room and then follow instructions for arabesque and chase.

7. Mud Puddle Jump – Kindermusik International – Start by setting up your mats or poly dots around the room .  Pretend to pop on your rainbows. Follow the instructions – start by walking around the ‘puddle’, then jumping in and out and then stomping to splash, followed by shaking off the mud.

8. Dance, Freeze, Melt – Mr Eric and Mr Michael – a great winter themed variation ‘Freeze’ activity

9. Ice Skater Extraordinaire – Cast Fancy Nancy – this is a very cute song with a great message about trying and trying again – you can use it for chassés across the room or partner gallops.

10. Skaters Waltz – This is a lovely piece to use for a creative movement exercise – pretend to get dressed up in your warm clothes and snow boots, make snow angles, build a snowman, have a snowball fight 🙂
