HEART PROPS
Nothing says Valentines Day like a glittery heart! You can make your own by cutting out heart shapes from glitter foam or try these. You can use these in so many ways.
- Pop them on the floor and use them to make first positions.
- Have your baby ballerinas sit down and hold the hearts up in front of their face. Play PeekaBoo making ‘Valentines’ faces (blow a kiss, happy face, sad face, excited face)
- Hold them up while you do your pliés, marches, whatever you like
- Have one ballerina stand in first and one kneel down behind them, try a plié and see if they can see the heart in the mirror. This would also work with sautés for slightly older children.
TRACING
Another fun activity is to trace your little ballerina’s feet in first position to make a heart.
Valentines Music
The Kiboomers have a whole album of Valentines themed music. Find it on Spotify here. Try this cute little Plié and Tendu combination to “If you love me and you know it”

Circuit
Props required – Envelopes (decoration optional), small foam or paper hearts, like these, and a box. You can make this a fancy post office style box if you are feeling creative, use a gift box or just stick with a regular box.
Put your place markers in a square. You can use your regular place markers or special heart shaped ones. Depending on the level of your ballerinas you can either choose to do a different movement between each station, e.g. fairy runs, marches, pony gallops, skips or the same one. Younger children will do better with a more basic version. Ballerinas set out from the first marker and move (e.g. fairy runs) to the second marker where they pick up an envelope. Then they move to the second marker (e.g. marches) to pick up a heart to pop in their envelope. Then they move to the third maker (e.g. pony gallops) to post their valentine. Finally the move back to the first (e.g. skips). It is totally up to you, how you would like to work this. You can make a super fancy letterbox or stick with just a box. A cute idea would be to write ‘MOM” on the envelope and at the end they can give their heart to mommy. Depending on the age you could write their names on the envelope if you are able to assist them in finding the right one.
